Exploring Computational Creativity for Games with Matthew Guzdial

In the second epsiode of NPC – the new live interview series hosted on the AI and Games YouTube channel – Tommy is joined by Dr Matthew Guzdial, an associate professor at the University of Alberta. Matthew’s research into machine learning for procedural content generation and in-turn computational creativity has received media exposure all over the world, from the BBC to the Rolling Stone magazine. In this interview we work through some of their research over the past two years and some current work still in development.

Matthew’s research is no stranger to AI and Games. Their work previously appeared in episode 39 of the YouTube series, which provides a summary of several bodies of work by university researchers in applying machine learning to create Super Mario Bros. levels.
